Christmas, New Years, and Jennifer's Baptism
We had many things to be thankful for this year. I say that because December wasn't the best month this year.
As I stated before we had a very close friend pass away in a tragic car accident. Also on Dec. 22nd we had the emergency services here at our house as I was having major pain in my back on the left side. Not the funnest of days for me...first ambulance ride - back to North Memorial to find out I had a large kidney stone. Dang thing hurt way more than anything I experienced with delivering Jennifer or Kate. I ended up having to stay the night in the hospital, but was out and off with a good dose of drugs to keep me happy until I passed the stone (which did eventually happen). The bummer of me being in the hospital and on some meds to pass the stone meant that Jennifer was forced to have a bottle and formula. The little thing was a trooper and did great. Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Christiansen for helping out during the emergency. In the end all was good...just bad timing for the dang thing.
We made it up to the lake before the snowstorm of the century (so the news portrayed it) hit. Yes, there was some snow, but not that crazy. We had a nice Christmas with my family, but of course we missed the Q's. They did Skype us - they were in New Zealand...lucky dogs! Kate got the coveted rocking horse from Papa. It is so darn nice...you will see her riding it with her red cowboy hat. Santa came to my parents house and our house. At the lake her brought Kate a train set. And of course at our house...she got her "beauty shop chair!" She was so excited. We had played with it almost every night. Santa brought Jennifer an electronic book that plays nursery rhymes. Kate of course plays it for Jennifer. We all got many many many more wonderful gifts! It was very special to receive so many nice things from our family and friends.
New Years was pretty quiet. We had our own little family party...watching the movie Up - eating popcorn and snuggling with our two girls! Needless to say I was sleeping well before midnight!
January 2nd, Jennifer got baptised. It was after the 5 o'clock mass. It was private, just our families there (Grandma/Grandpa Christiansen, Strohs', Jones', an Grams Papa Jones). Rob and Stacy are Jennifer's Godparents. It was a nice service, but of course it was FREEZING outside!!! Everyone came over for a ham dinner and pink cupcakes (Kate's idea)!
So after all the holiday jumble, things are getting back to normal. This week Kate went to daycare everyday. I wanted her to get back to a bit of a routine. It has also given me sometime to get a couple things done, rest, and hang out with Jennifer. Jennifer is really doing well. She defiantly can get mad! When she is hungry - wow...she can really let it out. Or when she wants to be held - man alive. Pretty sure Kate didn't scream like that! As far as sleeping she is doing good. During the day she will eat, be awake for about 45 mins, sleep an hour or two...repeat. The last two night she has slept like a trooper. Last night she went 7 hours in between feedings and 6 hours the night before. So that gives me a 5 hour stretch of sleep. Nothing better right now!
Kate is still doing very well as a big sister. She is so excited to see Jennifer when she gets home from Shelli's. When Jennifer starts crying, she usually drops what she is doing, runs over to her saying "It's ok, it's ok." It is funny, during the day it is quiet at the house and I swear Jennifer doesn't like it...when Kate gets home, is loud and crazy, she sleeps like a trooper and is very calm. Best bug buddies already!
